What is the IWG?
The Indy Webcomics Group’s origins begin with a front page article that ran in the Indianapolis Star on Wednesday March 7th, 2007 and later in USA Today. Written by the Star’s Chris Lloyd, the article talked of the creative spirit and raw energy behind webcomics today. In addition to quotes from some of Webcomic’s biggest names, Lloyd’s article featured statements from a number of cartoonists living and working in or around Indianapolis. These cartoonists later formed this webcomic community for artists and writers of Indiana.
If you are a comic writer or artist working and living in Indiana: you are welcome to comment and participate in our community. We hold monthly meet-ups in the Indianapolis area which are planned through the blog. IWG focuses on the comics and visual storytelling medium but any and all artists and writers are welcome. Bring some of your latest work to share. Hear from artists and writers in your area about their latest projects, inspirations, and illuminations. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and discussion often followed by a group jam-drawing session. The blog itself serves as a hub for our various comics, events, and projects. Check the main page at www.indywebcomics.com for the latest meetup information. Or email us at indywebcomics@gmail.com
