IWG Meetup Recap for May 2008

Hello IWG,
Thanks to Bob, Ed, and Sam for joining me at Old Point Tavern, Sunday night. And apologies to Jennifer who missed us at Old Point due to our incredible power to blend in with the crowd. We hope you’ll come out next time, and we’ll all wear hilarious hats so you’ll be able to find us.
Well, you all don’t have to but I’m gonna.
You can see pictures of our meetup by clicking on the above preview image. Thanks to Ed for bringing a camera. Old Point was great, as was expected. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people taking advantage of the nice weather.
We did get a jam comic strip completed. I’ll be posting it here, very soon. It’d be up by now but this seemingly harmless comic strip which started off being about discount shoes, ended up a horrifically racist train wreck of a comic. I begged and pleaded with each cartoonist as they worked on their additions to the strip, to please clean it up and save this strip from potential scandal and indecency. And each one, in turn, laughed in my face and pushed this totally innocent comic strip further into awful political incorrectness with each pencil stroke. There was nothing I could do. But Ed’s Asian and he said it was okay, so I’m posting it.
God help us.

That jam comic is insane… yet disturbingly funny. I feel bad for enjoying it.

I am greatly saddened that I was unable to assist in this particular jam comic. however, it does please me to see that this group is starting to head in the direction I have been pushing for for sooo long. thank you all for finally standing up and taking action.
or something like that.
I hate that I’ve missed so many get-togethers now. blah. I suck.

I’m sorry we’ve taken so long to come around to subject matter that’s more to your liking, Mike. Maybe we should start a suggestion box? “Dear IWG: More racism please!” I can imagine the suggestion box overflowing…
Sounds like a plan, Jennifer. I’ll get a banner made up at kinkos. I’ve always wanted my own neon sign…
Scott, you’re being too nice. Why can’t you be properly offended? At least you feel bad a little. As should you all! As I should for posting it.

you know, I’d attend these meet-up’s if I ever had an idea when you guys we’re meeting and when. If you do send any email’s to let the other ink-stained wretches include me in the list. I had a blast the one time I came through. Word.
